Investigating alternate perspectives is a common thread within my work. By encapsulating both micro and macro viewpoints within each work, I explore the relationship to the space we occupy.
My painting practice includes thin layers of acrylic and pigment built up over time to create a glossy surface. These layers are articulated by the drips visible on the sides of the work. The depth of the work gives an elemental quality similar to a slab of rock taken from a quarry. At the same time, the movement within the painting creates an aerial illusion, as if one is looking down at the planet through the clouds. By playing with various perspectives, the paintings have an exploratory nature of their own, creating a world where everything is interconnected on every level.
